Elon Musk’s car company Tesla is getting deeper and deeper into the crisis spiral: the latest figures show that the carmaker’s image damage has a significant impact on the European market.
The sales figure of the e-car manufacturer Tesla in Europe has shrunk by almost half in the first two months of the year.
As can be seen on Tuesday figures from the European ACEA automotive association, the company of the controversial US Presidential advisor Elon Musk recorded a decline in new registrations by 49 percent in January and February 2025. This corresponds to a number of 19.046 vehicles sold and a market share of 1.1 percent.
Significantly fewer Tesla vehicles also in Germany
In Germany, Tesla had brought significantly fewer vehicles in Germany to the streets in February than in the same month. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), new registrations of the US group broke up by a whopping 76 percent-while the new e-car registrations generally increased.
In January, the Tesla decline had already 59 percent. Tesla operates a factory in Grünheide in Brandenburg in Germany.
Crisis also due to the damage to the image by Elon Musk and Donald Trump
The carmaker had recently suffered serious damage to the government of the government of US President Donald Trump because of the controversial role of corporate chief Musk. In the USA and Europe, Teslas were set on fire and Tesla car dealerships and charging stations were attacked.
In Germany, some German companies from Tesla have also withdrawn as a provider of company vehicles because of the proximity of the Tech billionaire to right-wing extremists, such as the Rossmann drugstore chain and several energy suppliers.
Some Tesla drivers use stickers with which they distance themselves from Musk. There are also numerous deregistration of institutions, companies and private individuals from X.
