Hornbach defies a wall of consumption mood

The hardware store group surprises with good years. The products are well deserved, even if customers in Germany tend to hold the money together overall.
In the end of February 2024/25, the Hornbach hardware store group also had the purchase of its customers. However, because the management kept the costs under control and lower raw material prices also had a favorable effect, the company surprisingly increased its operational profit significantly. In the twelve months to the end of February, the result (adjusted EBIT adjusted), which was adjusted by special items, climbed 6 percent to 270 million euros, said Hornbach Holding, which was listed in the SDAX, on the basis of preliminary figures in Bornheim.
Albrecht Hornbach, head of the partner Hornbach Management AG, was satisfied. “Despite the steamed consumer mood, especially in Germany, we have successfully developed our business. This way we were able to expand our market shares in Germany and other important European markets,” he said.
At 6.2 billion euros, sales were only slightly above the previous year, with which Hornbach sectioned as part of the revenue forecast in December. As the largest operating sub-group, the hardware store business had a sales increase of 1.2 percent last year, while the building material division had to accept a good six percent due to the weak industry economy in Germany.
The board plans to publish details on the completed financial year as well as its sales and earnings forecasts for the current year 2025/26.
