Sergio Massa met with G7 ambassadors

Part of the meeting’s agenda focused on the economic roadmap that Argentina drew up for the coming years, the main measures announced by the economic team to stabilize the macroeconomy and improve the business climate, as well as the investment opportunities presented by the country in strategic sectors within the framework of the current global context.

Regarding this last point, Massa made reference to those present that the country is in a position to become a determining international actor from the increased production and export of energy, proteins, agrifood, critical minerals, and human resources. For this, he indicated, it is essential to global partner support to invest in the Argentine real economy in order to increase the supply of these critical goods, add value to exports and supply the global market.

They also followed up on the main results and announcements of the leaders’ summit in Munich, in which the Minister of Economy participated as a member of the Argentine delegation.

In this regard, they highlighted the role of Argentina in the meeting as a representative of CELAC, as well as the importance of advancing in coordinated solutions to guarantee food and energy security, the construction of a new, more equitable international financial order, and the initiative promoted by the leaders to reduce the global investment gap.

What is the G7

The G7 was created in 1975 as an informal forum that brings together the main industrialized countries, with greater political and economic weight on a global scale. Its members represent around 10% of the global population, more than 45% of the gross product, a third of the exports and imports of goods and services in the world, almost half of the stock of direct foreign investments, more than 40% of the contributions to the IMF and the World Bank and have an average GDP per capita close to USD 50,000. During 2022 Germany holds the presidency, while next year the one in charge of commanding the group will be Japan.
