The national government formalized the intervention of the electric power distribution company Edesur after the successive power cuts in the middle of the heat wave and appointed Jorge Ferraresi as controller.

The national government formalized the intervention of the electric power distribution company Edesur after the successive power cuts in the middle of the heat wave. In this sense, through Resolution 307/2023, the National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE)arranged “the intervention of control and supervision of the EMPRESA DISTRIBUIDORA SUR SOCIEDAD ANÓNIMA (EDESUR SA) for a period of ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY (180) days”.

For its part, the designation of Jorge Ferraresi as controller, who will have the role of supervising and controlling “all acts of habitual administration and disposition linked to the normal provision of the public service of distribution of electrical energy in charge of the aforementioned concessionaire, for which purposes it will have the powers to assign the necessary human resources to assist him in the entrusted function”.

His task will be to elevate the NATIONAL REGULATORY ENTITY OF ELECTRICITY (ENRE) Partial reports with a frequency of no more than TEN (10) days and a Final Report within TEN (10) days counted from the completion of its inspection and control function.

The announcement of the intervention was announced yesterday by the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, through a message transmitted via the web by the Palacio de Hacienda.

Other measures

The minister explained, on the other hand, that: “We have made the decision to execute the $2,700 million sentence, which implies a mechanism for the company to return to all users of the service the fines that, in some way, the State will apply and that have as their central objective the return of the service not provided by the company to the users”.

During the announcement, the minister was flanked by the Secretary of Energy of the Nation, Flavia Royón. The official denounced “non-compliance” by Edesur, as well as lack of maintenance and service works.
