candidates without clear plans to overcome the economic crisis

“The country has not yet entered the process of political transition, but we are in full economic transition. This situation has originated from the existence of a government in extreme weakness that has not been able or has not been able to solve the crisis it inherited but, rather, aggravated it, but also due to the conjunctural measures that it adopts that are less and less successful. if they have any. In other words, we have a government that no longer arouses expectations for overcoming the crisis,” said the former Secretary of Commerce, Pablo Challu.

Challú explained that: “expectations are increasingly centered on what the main candidates of the political forces state what they plan to do and, here, there is a large deficit that contributes to the instability of the economy”.

In this regard, he maintained that “javier milei has announced its plans by proposing dollarization, but it has not helped economic stability since such a project raises the question of what would be the exchange rate needed to change pesos into dollars, a rate that could reach a level close to 8,000 pesos. clearly an unbearable value for the Argentine economy, which adds uncertainty and instability to a situation that requires exactly the opposite.”

The economic referent commented that “the Principles and Values party has presented an economic plan that consists of a set of measures and policies encompassed in a comprehensive plan where the treatment given to different rentier sectors of society stands out. But, the rest of the political forces, through their main leaders, remain in vague and general statements, which contributes to increasing uncertainty and aggravating the current situation.”

“These definitions –added the former Secretary of Commerce-, are becoming more and more imperative, taking into account the fundamental changes that the international economy is going through, since the crisis of neoliberal globalization, which began in 2008 with the crisis of the financial derivatives in the US and the trade policy change initiated by donald trump in the US, but continued by the current administration of Joe Biden. A stage marked by different types of nationalism has begun, which obviously reaches economic policy but which reaches the military issue, as observed in Europe and Southeast Asia”

In this sense, Challú stated that “this is how vitally important questions arise: Will the main opposition and the ruling front, which support and have supported neoliberal policies, continue to be linked to globalizing neoliberalism? that no longer exists, or will they try policies to protect and promote national production and employment? And, if this were the case, what kind of intervention will they advocate and what doctrine will they base their policies on?

“A clear definition of the main leaders of these forces is required, not only to clarify the electoral options offered to our people, but also to ensure an orderly and peaceful transition until the elections,” he concluded.
