Earnings after taxes were EUR 63 million in 2022, after EUR 23.5 million in the same period of the previous year. “The economic recovery after the pandemic continued at the beginning of 2022 – and even more clearly than hoped,” commented WKÖ Vice President and Finance Officer Wolfgang Hesoun on the result on Tuesday in a broadcast.

The energy price crisis with extreme price increases and the massive increase in inflation as a result of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine were also not foreseeable in the dimensions that occurred, Hesoun continued. The result of 63 million euros is mainly due to a contribution that is well above plan, the release of the provision for the Corona support fund and the lower material expenses, writes the WKÖ.

The main sources of income for the WKÖ are the compulsory membership fees of Austrian companies via Chamber 1, which rose from 92.9 million euros in 2021 to 108.5 million euros, and Chamber 2, which rose from 143.3 million euros 153.5 million euros. According to the Chamber of Commerce, the planned figure was exceeded by a total of 16.2 percent. The final accounts are now before the Economic Parliament for a decision in June.
