Stock exchange in Frankfurt: Dax starts the new week with over 16,000 points

On Whit Monday, investors in the German stock market honored the dispute that had been settled about raising the debt ceiling in the USA. A default by the USA was thus probably avoided at the last minute.

On Whit Monday, investors in the German stock market honored the dispute that had been settled about raising the debt ceiling in the USA. A default by the USA was thus probably avoided at the last minute.

At the start of the session, the Dax rose above the 16,000 point mark and gained 0.43 percent to 16,052.01 points in the first few minutes of trading. On Friday, the leading German index rose by 1.2 percent in the wake of the strong US stock exchanges, reducing its weekly loss to 1.8 percent.

The MDax of medium-sized companies rose by 0.41 percent on Monday morning to 27,101.37 points. The EuroStoxx 50 rose by around 0.4 percent. Due to the holidays in some European countries as well as in the USA, calm trading is to be expected.
