Thursday, Sergio Massa had confirmed that the sending of the budget roadmap for next year would be finalized today. “Tomorrow (today) we are sending the national budget” to Congress, he stated during his visit to the province of La Rioja.
In this way, the ruling party confirmed that it will present “in a timely manner” the project, which will establish the resources, sources of financing and expenses that the national public administration will have available for next year.
The presentation of the initiative at the ticket table of Deputies It could be “at any time” of the day, official sources close to the minister said.
However, they added that the treatment of the project will be postponed “until after the elections.”
The Financial Administration Law establishes that every September 15 the Government must present the budget for the next year’s period, to then guarantee its treatment and be voted on in the Congress.
On this occasion, the presidential candidate of La Liberad Avanza, Javier Mileirequested the ruling party in a letter sent last Monday to postpone the presentation of the Budget until after the October 22 elections.
The Government assured that “Milei’s request is reasonable because it states that the next president must have the possibility of redesigning his own Budget with which he will govern, but the law must be complied with.”
“For this reason, it is logical that the 2024 Budget be presented this Friday and then wait to discuss it until it is known who will be the next president that the people choose at the polls,” they added.
Massa on discussing the Budget after the elections: “What Milei says seems reasonable to me”
The Minister of Economy and presidential candidate of Unión por la Patria, Sergio Massaassured today that “what (Javier) Milei says seems reasonable” about discussing the 2024 Budget after the October 22 elections.
