The DAX’s record run did not initially continue on Thursday. In the first minutes of Xetra trading, the leading German index fell by 0.22 percent to 16,620.60 points. The day before it had reached another record high of 16,727 points. Its year-end rally since the October low has so far brought investors a gain of more than 13 percent.

The MDax of medium-sized companies recorded a discount of 0.71 percent to 26,547.87 points on Thursday. The Eurozone index EuroStoxx 50 fell by 0.2 percent.

The day before, the market-wide S&P 500 in the USA closed at the daily low with slight losses. In Asia, too, sellers dominated the morning.
