A major setback on the German stock market is a long time coming at the beginning of the new week. The Dax was somewhat weaker on Monday, but started trading just below Friday’s record high. At the end of last week, the leading index reached a record of 17,443 points. In early trading on Monday, the index fell moderately by 0.1 percent to 17,401 points.

Consumer prices for the Eurozone and the USA will be published on Thursday. They could provide clues for the monetary policy of the European Central Bank and the US Federal Reserve.
The MDax of medium-sized stock exchange stocks fell by 0.2 percent to 25,947 points in the morning. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 was also slightly in the red at 0.2 percent.
