Stock exchange in Frankfurt: Investors on the German stock market cautious at the start

After the significant gains of the previous day, the German stock market started the trading day slightly weaker. A decline in US inflation also boosted German stocks on Wednesday, but the monetary policy statements of the US Federal Reserve ultimately did not have much of an impact on the US stock exchanges the previous evening. The guidelines from New York are therefore not giving the local market any clear impetus.

The DAX fell by 0.20 percent to 18,593.83 points in the first few minutes of trading. The day before, the German leading index had risen by 1.4 percent and had almost made up for the losses of the past three trading days. On Tuesday, the most important German stock market barometer had reached a five-week low.

The MDax, which includes medium-sized stocks, fell by 0.58 percent to 26,616.70 points on Thursday morning. The EuroStoxx 50, the leading index for the eurozone, fell by around 0.1 percent.
