Unemployment rose sharply (0.8 percentage points -pp) to 7.7% during the first quarter of the Javier Milei’s government compared to the same period of the previous year, as a result of the significant recession suffered by the economy, as reported this Monday by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).

Extrapolated to the total population, the number of unemployed reached 1,731,000 in the first quarter. In this context, through the Resolution 1684/2024 of the National Registry of Rural Workers and Employers (RENATRE) published this Friday in the Official Gazette, the increase in unemployment benefits for rural workers was made official.

Financing: The increase will be financed with resources from Article 13 of Law No. 25,191.
