The Government confirmed a new increase

By establishing new minimum wages and a solidarity quota, the aim is to improve the living and working conditions of this key sector of the national economy.

The National Commission for Agricultural Work established new rules and working conditions for agricultural workers throughout Argentina.

The Resolution 241/2024, published this Thursday in the Official Gazette, focused on two fundamental aspects:

  • Increase in minimum wages: A new minimum wage was set for permanent agricultural workers, covering various categories and regions of the country. This wage increase was agreed between representatives of workers and employers.
  • Implementation of a solidarity quota: A new 2% tax on agricultural workers’ wages is being established, which will be allocated to a union fund. This fund will be managed by the Argentine Union of Rural Workers and Stevedores (UATRE).

Highlights of the Resolution

  • Validity of the new measures: The new salaries and solidarity fee will be valid from July 1, 2024 to July 31, 2024, but will remain in force until new values ​​are established.
  • Adaptation to regional realities: The diversity of the agricultural sector is recognised and it is established that minimum wages may be adapted to the specific characteristics of each region and activity.

  • Foremen: $752,127.97
  • Tractor mechanics: $724,471.68
  • Tractor drivers, harvester and agricultural machine operators: $688,881.21
  • Milkers on dairy farms who also perform the duties of carters: $684,606.47
  • Milkers on dairy farms: $664,274.91
  • Bricklayers, beekeepers, butchers, carpenters, cooks, rabbit breeders, storekeepers, tamers, fruit growers, blacksmiths, inseminators, gardeners, mechanics (general and millers), bakers, painters, farmers and saddlers: $659,929.55
  • Sheepdogs: $641,443.67
  • Laborers working in rice cultivation, farm laborers, ranch laborers (cattle and sheep): $636,192.87
  • SINGLE PAWN: $634,831.58
  • GENERAL LABORERS: $618,488.94

And for the daily wages, ordered from highest to lowest:

  • Tractor mechanics: $31,870.55
  • Tractor drivers, harvester and agricultural machine operators: $30,353.56
  • Milkers on dairy farms who also perform the duties of carters: $30,095.86
  • Milkers on dairy farms: $29,224.32
  • Bricklayers, beekeepers, butchers, carpenters, cooks, rabbit breeders, storekeepers, tamers, fruit growers, blacksmiths, inseminators, gardeners, mechanics (general and millers), bakers, painters, farmers and saddlers: $29,016.43
  • Sheepdogs: $28,309.83
  • Laborers working in rice cultivation, farm laborers, ranch laborers (cattle and sheep): $27,988.89
  • SINGLE PAWN: $27,931.03
  • GENERAL LABORERS: $27,209.18

According to the official text, this resolution represents a step forward in the protection of the labor rights of agricultural workers in the country.
