The meeting took place at the headquarters of the National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT), convened by the Ministry of Health.

The objective of the health portfolio is “anticipate epidemiological forecasts so that the sector can plan production and streamline procedures for the importation of inputs,” before the arrival of spring and summer.
Last February, demand for insect repellents had already grown by more than 300 percent compared to the same month last year, forcing SC Johnson, the largest company in the sector, to import aerosols from Poland.
Meanwhile, during the month of April, ANMAT had to create an exceptional route for the entry of repellents, due to the shortage in the midst of the dengue epidemic.
However, the problem became more acute as, in addition to repellents, there was also a shortage of other substitute products such as coils and tablets.
