Fuel prices continue to fall. One reason is the economy’s weak demand for oil.
Millions of drivers think this is great: E10 fuel costs an average of less than 1.69 euros at German petrol stations, making it as cheap as it was last at Christmas two years ago. According to the ADAC, diesel is the cheapest it has been since June 2023, at an average of 1.56 euros per litre.
One reason for the drop in fuel prices is the moderate development of oil prices over the past few months, explains the ADAC. Worldwide demand is low, especially in important markets such as China. At the same time, oil production in the OPEC countries is stable. In addition, the dollar is relatively weak against the euro.
Price development completely open
It is entirely unclear whether prices will continue to fall or soon rise again. This depends on the further development of the global economy, geopolitical tensions and the production strategies of the major oil-exporting countries.
The ADAC recommends filling up in the evening between 7 and 8 p.m. or between 9 and 10 p.m. At 7 a.m. a liter costs a good six cents more.
