Gladiator 2 will have the “biggest action sequence” Ridley Scott has ever filmed

Scott recently said the film will feature the “biggest action sequence” the director has ever produced, claiming it was bigger than anything seen in Napoleon, starring Phoenix. The acclaimed director has already delivered some of the most jaw-dropping set pieces in cinema, directing films such as Alien from 1979, Blade Runner from 1982, Kingdom of Heaven and The Martian of 2015.

Scott became a fan of Mescal after seeing the actor’s breakout performance in Normal PeopleThe two men only spoke for half an hour when Scott decided that Mescal would be his leading man in Gladiator 2. The actor bulked up so much for the film that Pascal even said it was a challenge having to face him in the arena.

Pascal even gave Mescal a nickname on set: “Brick Wall Paul.” “He became so strong. I would rather be thrown off a building than have to fight him again,” Pascal said. “Facing someone so fit, so talented and so much younger is brutal, man”.

The long-awaited sequel will be released on November 14.
