Illegal street sales fell 17.4% compared to 2023 in the city of Buenos Aires

A survey of the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC) reported that the illegal street sale fell 17.4% year-on-year in December in the city ​​of Buenos Aires. As the study was able to record, There are a total of 966 positions.

The ten most affected blocks contained the 98.7% of the total positions located on streets, avenues and pedestrians and represented the 49% of the total blocks with illegal sales.

In the Top 10, the Av. Avellaneda had 7 of the 10 most hit blockswith a participation of 92.2% of the total detected in avenues and streets.

According to the CAC report, the most affected block in the entire city was Av. Avellaneda at 2900where 216 positions were surveyed. Second place went to Av. Avellaneda at 3000, with 185 stands.

The most traded item was Clothing and footwearwhich covered the 76.9%, followed by Food and Beverages with 14.3% of the total.

On the other hand, there was also a 13.8% increase in piracy cases compared to November 2024: a total of 504 cases were detected. Av. Avellaneda also led this category with Counterfeits of clothing and footwear. At the Retiro Station, counterfeits of optics, photography, watches and jewelry were recorded.

Illegal street sales also fell in La Plata

For its part, in the city of La Plata, 62 illegal street vendors on the avenuesstreets and pedestrians, with a decrease in relation to November 2024 of 28.7% and also a decrease of 83.9% with respect to December 2023.

When analyzing the most affected blocks, it was observed that the first place was occupied by the “El Ayuntamiento” shopping mall with 30 stalls – that is, 48.4% of the total positions surveyed on city streets-.

In second place was the Apolo Gallery with 13 positions and a participation of 16.1%.

The item with the greatest impact on the streets, avenues and pedestrians of the La Plata shopping center was Clothing and footwearwhich represented a 80.6% of the items observed. For its part, Artesanías was in second place with 19.4%.
