Men have a pension almost twice as high

In 2019, the average women’s pension was still 60 percent of the men’s pension, in the previous year it was 56 percent. The pension insurance company announced the current figures yesterday: a man came to an average of 2588.77 euros, a woman to 1457.35 euros gross.

The Hacklerpension was reintroduced in 2020. People who were 62 years old and had worked for 45 years could take early retirement without the regular deductions of 4.2 percent and thus received an average of EUR 308 more per month. Since the standard retirement age for women is 60 years, they were not among the beneficiaries: just three women took advantage of the early retirement without deductions, while 11,060 men benefited from it. In the meantime, the Hacklerpension has been reformed again, from 2022 there will be an early start bonus, which should also be of benefit to women.

Theoretically, the standard retirement age for men is 65 years, in fact it was 61.3 years. Women retire at an average of 59.3 years.

The corona pandemic also had an impact on disability and disability pensions. The number of applications fell by 14 percent in the previous year. The reason for this is probably that the stress situation has decreased due to short-time working and home office.
