Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose will no longer throw microphones into the audience at concerts. A fan is said to have injured himself at a show.
Axl Rose (60) no longer wants to throw microphones into the audience at concerts. This is what the Guns N’ Roses singer shared after it was reported that a fan was injured at a concert.
“I have learned that at our show in Adelaide, Australia, a fan may have been hit and injured by the microphone I traditionally throw to the fans at the end of the show,” Rose writes. “If that’s true, then of course we don’t want anyone to get hurt at our shows.”
“Will not do it from now on”
Throwing the microphone into the crowd has been a tradition at the band’s concerts for more than 30 years, the singer continues. “In the interests of public safety, we will refrain from throwing microphones or other objects at fans during or after performances,” said Rose.
He further criticized the reporting of the alleged incident as “negative” and “irresponsible”. Australian media had published photos of a woman with bruises and cuts on her face, said to come from the microphone throw.
