The Berlin-born actor Max Riemelt likes the people in the Rhineland. The 39-year-old believes that many other Berliners also like the Rhenish cheerfulness.
Actor Max Riemelt, born in Berlin, finds the people in the Rhineland to be “very pleasant”. “They are funny,” says the 39-year-old (“Napola – Elite for the Führer”, “The Wave”) of the German Press Agency.
He also believes that Berliners – sometimes decried as a bit grumpy – can generally “do a lot with Rhenish cheerfulness”. “There is no shyness there,” asserts Riemelt. “When Berlin became the capital and the entire government district brought the carnival with it, I was a bit irritated,” he says. Then he thought: That belongs more to the Rhine.
Riemelt knows the Rhineland, among other things, from filming a new ARD series in which he is one of the main actors. It’s called “Bonn – Old Friends, New Enemies” and takes place – as the name suggests – in Bonn. It is set in the 1950s. In it, Riemelt embodies a secret agent.
“Half was shot in Prague, where there are many historic buildings and streets. The other half was shot in Bonn,” reports Riemelt. He really enjoyed it there. “Bonn has a beautiful nature.”
