Rosi Mittermaier: The family says goodbye with a touching ad

Skier Rosi Mittermaier died at the age of 72. Her family said goodbye with an obituary notice – the words speak of sadness, but also great gratitude.

With her two gold medals at the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Rosi Mittermaier provided great winter sports moments. At the beginning of January she died at the age of 72 after a serious illness, her death caused great sadness. Now the family of the native of Munich has said goodbye to her with a touching obituary in the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”.

The ad is headed with a quote from the book “The Little Prince” by the French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. When asked by the little prince “Are you afraid of death?” the rose answers: “But no. I lived, I blossomed and used my strength as much as I could. And love, given a thousand times over, returns to the one who gave it. So I want to wait for the new life and wither without fear or despondency.”

Expressions of grief for Rosi Mittermaier

Touching words of sadness, but also of gratitude for a rich and fulfilling life. The ad also contains an excerpt from a song by the Inntal singers, which also expresses gratitude for the time spent together. The declaration of mourning was signed by Rosi Mittermaier’s husband Christian Neureuther, who was also a successful skier, and the couple’s children: Ameli and Felix Neureuther and his wife Miriam.

Felix Neureuther, who followed in the footsteps of his famous parents as an athlete and ended his career as a ski racer in 2019, had previously said goodbye to Instagram. He posted a picture showing him as a young child with his mother. Rosi Mittermaier points her finger up, both look towards the sky. “You showed me the stars. Now you’re one yourself. Thanks for everything dear mom,” Neureuther wrote.
