El Leoncito National Park El Leoncito, San Juan
Since 2019, as a result of a law, San Juan was declared the National Capital of Astronomical Tourism. The pristine conditionsincluding more than 300 clear nights per yearare ideal for observing the skies.
Inside the national park, there are two astronomical observatories: he El Leoncito Astronomical Complex and the Carlos U. Cesco Height Station, located about 2550 meters above sea level in the department of Calingasta. Night visits begin when the sun sets behind the Cordillera and are made with prior reservation.
