Boca distinguished Estela de Carlotto as an honorary member

In addition to Carlotto, 92, she was also recognized with the delivery of a similar card Buscarita Roa (85)Chilean by birth and Argentine by adoption, who is also a member of Abuelas and who -like Estela- is a recognized activist for Human Rights.

Ceremony

Jorge Amor Amealthe president of Boca, was the host who entertained the two honorary members and also participated in the act, Alejandro Veiga, who is deputy secretary and president of the Human Rights Commission of the auriazul entity.

They attended as guests Juan Cabandie, Minister of Environment and Development of the Nation (in addition to recovered grandson number 77); Carlos Kunkel, leader of the Frente de Todos; and Marcelo Achile, president of Defensores de Belgrano who attended on behalf of the Argentine Football Association (AFA).

While, Horace Pietragalla, Secretary of Human Rights of the Nation, and the artist Victor Herediadid not attend the ceremony and sent two recorded messages, in keeping with the distinctions.

“Today is an exceptional day in my life. This exception is because I am going to have the membership card of a unique and famous club”, Charlotte said.

“There are 45 years of struggle and we still need to recover 300 grandchildren, because we have already recovered 133,” the leader added.

“We will continue in this fight and since we are at the end of the road, our grandchildren will be there to continue the fight,” acknowledged the head of Grandmothers.

“I know that we will have the Argentina that the 30,000 disappeared dreamed of. We already have the longest democracy in our history, it is 40 years old and despite what is said, this country is wonderful,” he praised.

“My husband (Guido Carlotto) was a player for Estudiantes de La Plata. Surely where his spirit is, he will ask me what I did? And I tell him that I have done what I feel. I know that my husband will understand me from heaven” Carlotto laughed.

“Thanks to this club, to this great man that they have as president (Amor Ameal) for this wonderful moment,” he concluded.

“Retrieve identity”

For his part, the xeneize owner said that “when we arrived at the club three years ago it was necessary to recover the xeneize identity. And this act today has to do with that,” he said.

“This is the club of families, of the Grandmothers. I told Estela to adopt my children as her grandchildren. This tribute is for her and Buscarita (Roa). I told Estela that from now on she should not say more than It’s from Estudiantes, let them say it’s from Boca” ironized the president.

Amor Ameal praised the behavior of the two fighters and defined them as “the true protagonists” in the dark times of “repression in the Plaza”.

For his part, Veiga stressed that “Boca never had recognition as an institution for what happened during the Dictatorship and the silence of all those years ends up being an accomplice to what happened.”

“That is why this Board of Directors has memories of the past. To think that some said that Boca was a football club and they bought and sold footballers as if they were candy,” he ironized.

Finally, Buscarita Roa remarked that “it is an honor for me that Boca distinguishes me with this membership card. We will continue trying to recover the grandchildren, which continues to be our main mission,” he said.

It was the second distinction of this type that soccer institutions have made with Carlotto, who in April 2017 had been decorated by Estudiantes de La Plata, which under the leadership of Juan Sebastián Verón also declared her an honorary member.
