Dexter and Billions will have spin-off series

As to DexterMcCarthy ordered a prequel series that will tell the origin story of the serial killer drama of Michael C Hall which first aired on Showtime in 2006 and was part of a wave of anti-heroes that wowed viewers. Showtime revived Dexter with a sequel series, New Blood, which helped mend the legacy of the series after its original ending was considered one of the worst in television history. New Blood became a ratings and broadcast hit for Showtime. Also as part of the larger plan to build on the Dexter franchise, Showtime is also exploring other spin-offs that trace the stories of some of the show’s most iconic characters. This includes the memorable Trinity Killer from john lithgow. Dexter creator Clyde Phillips, who was behind New Blood and served as executive producer on the first four seasons (which included Trinity), will oversee the franchise for Showtime.

McCarthy previewed his franchise strategy late last month when he confirmed the merger of showtime with Paramount+ , which has been rumored for a long time . “We have already started discussions with our production partners about what content makes sense going forward and what shows have franchise potential,” he said.

What’s also compelling here is that Showtime will own all of its Dexter and Billion spinoffs, as McCarthy leans on proven hits and cancels underperforming originals, including reboots of American Gigolo and Let the Right One In, and pulls over 20 titles from the library, including the first one. season of the Koppelman anthology, Super Pumped. The effort is part of a larger plan to add scale to Paramount+as Paramount Global seeks to compete with Netflix, Disney+ and Warner Bros. Discoveryrecently merged, among other conglomerates.
