Hollywood star Tom Sizemore seriously ill – doctors give up hope

Actor Tom Sizemore is currently only being kept alive artificially, the doctors see no chances of improvement. His family now wants to decide whether to switch off the machines.

In mid-February, Tom Sizemore suffered a brain aneurysm in a stroke, and the actor has been in a coma ever since. Sizemore is in a “critical condition,” his manager Charles Lago said: “In this situation, one can only wait and see.” Apparently there was no hope of improvement, the doctors at the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Los Angeles no longer give the 61-year-old any realistic chances of survival.

The doctors: inside the actor’s family “informed that there is no hope that he will recover again,” said the “Page Six” portal. Sizemore is currently only kept alive artificially. It is up to the family to decide when to stop life-sustaining measures. This decision will now be made, and Lago announced another statement for Wednesday.

The manager also asked that the family’s privacy be respected: “It was a difficult time for her.” He also thanked the family for their support over the past few days and weeks. Sizemore suffered a stroke on the night of February 18 and was found unconscious at his home in Los Angeles.

The 61-year-old starred in a number of war films, best known for his role in Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan (1998). He also had supporting roles in “Black Hawk Down” and “Pearl Harbour”. After that, however, the American experienced a career break – including some prison stays.

In 2003 he was sentenced to six months probation for hitting and threatening his girlfriend. He was further convicted after attempting to falsify a urine test and violating his probation terms. In 2010 he had to go into rehab because of drug problems, which he had filmed for a TV show.
