Every Star Wars fan’s dream: Disney unveiled the first “real” lightsaber

The president of Disney Parks and Experiences, Josh D’Amaromade a presentation at the South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) this weekend that promised a focus on “The Art and Science of Disney Parks Storytelling,” and it delivered, at least for fans of Star Wars.

After showing off a very dynamic robot persona and offering a look at Smart Hulk in his time travel suit, D’Amaro delivered what he called “the real wow moment.”

D’Amaro brandished a legitimate-looking lightsaber hilt. He pressed a button and a very real looking blue lightsaber blade seemed to spring from the hilt in his hand.

“I have the coolest job in the world,” D’Amaro announced. “I’m holding a real lightsaber.”

Video posted online captured the moment and the collective gasp from the audience followed by applause.

Despite the excitement that this item exists, the truth is that it will not be available in trade (at least for now). The only way to test this real lightsaber is by living the experience Walt Disney World Resort’s Galactic Starcruiser.

How does the lightsaber work?

Although this is not the first “real” lightsaber that has been built, it is the one that seems most faithful to the universe of Star Wars Unlike its predecessors, it’s not a static light bar that turns on and off, but actually looks like the light is coming out of the grip without the need for something fixed to channel it.

from the portal Deadline They contacted the Disney department in charge of developing this technology and have not received an answer on how they have achieved it, although a patent found on the internet explains that they could be two long plastic cylinders with the ability to retract and light up.
