“Tagesschau” spokesman: Constantin Schreiber avoids Twitter more often

What does the 43-year-old do in his free time? In any case, he is less active on social media than he used to be. And that has it’s reason.

“Tagesschau” spokesman and author Constantin Schreiber has significantly reduced his social media consumption. “I don’t even want to see people barking at each other on Twitter,” said the 43-year-old of the German Press Agency. “Sometimes I wish I hadn’t seen what other people are tweeting.”

Schreiber takes offense at the tone and manners on the Internet. “Apparently it tempts to cross borders on the cell phone. There is a routine in the outrages.” He has largely reduced his Twitter and Facebook consumption. This process began during the corona pandemic. Schreiber makes an exception on Instagram, where he thinks the tone is not so negative.

According to the journalist and publicist, he first had to learn how to use the time he otherwise spent on social media differently. “You have to practice that: How do I fill certain time gaps differently? I prefer to call friends now when I’m waiting for the bus.”

Schreiber, who lives in Hamburg, relaxes from his job as a “Tagesschau” announcer: “I prefer to play the piano for several hours a day or do sports.”

Schreiber has written a new non-fiction book about happiness. “Lucky in disguise – how I remain optimistic despite bad news” will be published in early April.
