The Swedish punk rock band presents their first studio material in 11 years.
The Hives announced their first new album in over a decade, “The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons”, and released his first single called “Bogus Operandi”. The Swedish punk rock band will release their new album on August 11, 2023 via Fuga.
“There’s no maturity or anything like that, because who the hell wants mature rock’n’roll?”said the leader Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist about the new album in a press release.
“That’s always where people go wrong, I think. ‘It’s like rock’n’roll but for adults’, nobody wants that! That’s literally taking the good shit out of it. Rock and roll can’t grow, it’s a perpetual teenager and this album feels exactly like that, it’s all because of our excitement, and you can’t fake that shit.
“As the macabre album title suggests, the band’s extended absence from the studio has been no hiatus, but rather a horror story,” read a press release.
“The Hives now admit that they have not seen or spoken to their founder, mentor and songwriter, Randy Fitzsimmons (something of a mystical character), who always avoids the spotlight, since the release of Lex Hives in 2012. Following the recent Discovering a hidden obituary and cryptic poem in the local newspaper in the northern Vastmanland town where The Hives are from, the band members were led to Fitzsimmons’ headstone.”
“In digging up the newly buried soil, the gang found not a body, but rather various tapes, suits, and a piece of paper with the words ‘The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons’ typed as if it were a title. Whether this is a bluff or Fitzsimmons’ opening gambit remains to be seen. The discovered tapes included the demos that would become the twelve new songs on “The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons.”
