What is Blood and Gold about?
Spring 1945. “Blood and Gold” is set in the last days of World War II and tells the story of German deserter Heinrich (robert mäaser), the brave young farmer Elsa (Marie Hacke) and a handful of Nazis. As Heinrich sets out across the front towards his house to return to his daughter, he falls into the clutches of some SS looters whose leader (alexander scheer) leaves him hanging from a tree to be hanged. But, at the last moment, a farmer finds him and saves him. In fact, Elsa also hides it on her farm, where she will have the opportunity to discover everything that unites them, since they both fight for justice and freedom, but also to protect their families.
Meanwhile, the SS search for a hidden Jewish treasure in a nearby town, but its inhabitants, who have had enough and want the gold for themselves, put up a stubborn resistance. Heinrich and Elsa are soon drawn into this treasure hunt that culminates in a bloody battle in the village church.
