For the first time in his career, Elton John is attending the Glastonbury Festival. He announced various guests for his farewell concert.
British superstar Elton John has been on his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” farewell tour since September 2018, which will end after around 300 concerts on July 8, 2023 in Stockholm. But before his very last concert, the world-famous “Rocket Man” is celebrating another premiere: For the first time in his career, the Briton will be present at the “Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts”, which will present him as headliner this year.
“I’m not scared, but I’m a little intimidated”
The musician has mixed feelings about the fact that his Glastonbury debut will also be his last concert on British soil. Elton John told BBC Radio 2 about the upcoming concert: “I’ve played festivals and really enjoyed them. But Glastonbury is obviously the cream of the crop. I’m not scared, but I’m a little intimidated because I’ve never played there and I’ve never been there.”
“The most wonderful way to say goodbye in England.”
Despite a certain stage fright, the timing of the festival fits in perfectly with the timing of his farewell tour. “It comes at just the right time,” he said happily. “I believe very much in luck and destiny – this is the most wonderful way to say goodbye in England.”
The setlist of this special performance will be completely different from the other concerts on his farewell tour. In addition, one can expect some prominent surprises on the show, but the singer did not want to reveal the names of them yet.
Top acts like Dua Lipa or Miley Cyrus as special guests?
Which special guests will be involved should provide excitement until the very end. It cannot be ruled out that Elton John will bring some top acts on stage with whom he collaborated on his album “The Lockdown Sessions” in 2021. Among them are names like Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus or Nicki Minaj.
