Pete Davidson’s mother remembers her late husband, a New York firefighter who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks.
The fate of Pete Davidson’s (29) family is closely linked to the terrorist attacks on New York’s World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. His father, Scott Davidson, was a firefighter who died in the operation. On the 22nd anniversary of the tragedy, Pete Davidson’s mother Amy remembers her late husband with several photos.
“The happiest days of my life and I didn’t know it”, . “Never forget and always be grateful,” the former “Saturday Night Live” star’s mother continued. The snaps show the couple in a close embrace, a young Pete trying on his father’s firefighting gear and his sister Casey smiling in her father’s arms.
Pete Davidson spoke about the loss on a podcast earlier this year
In March, Pete Davidson described learning that his father had died in the September 11 attacks. “My father told me that he would pick me up from school on September 11th. I was picked up by my mother”, . “She didn’t tell me what was wrong for three days.” He continued, “She kept telling me, ‘Dad’s at work,’ ‘He’s coming home,’ whatever. I had no idea.”
The comedian, who was seven years old at the time, also recalled that his mother banned him from watching television to protect him from media coverage of the attacks. But she apparently didn’t last long, as Davidson added: “One evening I turned on the TV and saw my dad on TV. I thought, ‘Oh, OK.’ And they said, ‘These are all the firefighters who are dead’.” It was strange because they “didn’t have anything for three weeks [gewusst]”That he was dead,” he continued. Until then, they had hope: “They still found people. They pulled people out of the dirt and there was just some kind of hope. “It was ups and downs and nobody knew how to deal with it,” he said, remembering that terrible time.
Posts on anniversaries
Both Pete Davidson and his sister Casey have since paid tribute to their father on past anniversaries of the attacks. “This year more than ever I wish you could be here. We miss you, we celebrate you and we remember you every day. Proud to be your Caseygirl,” Casey wrote in a 2022 post, to three Pictures of her late father.
In 2015, the actor shared a series of tweets remembering his father, peppered with jokes and words of thanks to friends who shook his hand that day. “I’m a very lucky guy.” He ended his message on a serious note by tweeting: “All jokes aside. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. You are my hero. Can’t wait to see you again one day.”
