Senta Berger is one of the country’s great actresses – now she is being awarded the Bambi for her life’s work.
Senta Berger (82) receives a very special award. At the 75th Bambi Awards on November 16th, the actress will be honored with the Bambi for her life’s work “for her versatility and outstanding acting achievements,” as Hubert Burda Media announced in advance of the gala.
“Putting Senta Berger’s life’s work into words is a challenge that can quickly fail,” says the media group’s announcement. “Whether on screen, on stage or on television – Senta Berger has touched viewers for decades. Her incomparable charisma has made her “one of the most outstanding personalities in the entertainment industry.”
Not the first Bambi for Senta Berger
The actress, born in Vienna in 1941, made her film debut in 1950 in a small role in the Erich Kästner film adaptation “The Double Lottchen”. At the age of 16, she was the youngest student ever accepted at the renowned Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. A year later she received her first theater engagement. Her film career took her via Germany to Hollywood. It has been an integral part of the German film and television landscape for years.
Senta Berger has already been awarded the Bambi three times: in 1968 in the “German Actress” category, in 1990 with the Mini-Bambi and in 1999 in the “National Television” category.
The Bambi will be awarded again in 2023 for the first time after a three-year break. Sat.1 will broadcast the gala live on November 16th from 8:15 p.m.
