The film, which is scheduled for general release on May 23, stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth and serves as a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road from 2015, starring Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Zoe Kravitz.

The Variety portal reported that Hemsworth became emotional during the applause, while the actor was also filmed kissing director George Miller on the head.

What is “Furiosa” about?
In the prequel, Taylor-Joy plays a younger version of Theron’s character, who is kidnapped by the sadistic warlord Dementus (Hemsworth). Forced to traverse the Wastelands with a large horde of bikers, Furiosa must fight to find her way home while Dementus and his fellow tyrant Immortal Joe fight for dominance in the desert.
The film also stars Alyla Browne and Tom Burke.
