Asia saw Furiosa deliver the biggest opening weekend for the Mad Max franchise and for director George Miller in Hong Kong, India and Taiwan. Latin America received the film with enthusiasm, placing it at number 1 in the region and surpassing John Wick: Chapter 2 by 83%, Dune by 35% and Blade Runner 2049 by 12%, all adjusted to the types of current changes. Europe faced a different challenge, as warm, sunny weather kept audiences outside instead of in theaters. However, Furiosa managed to outperform Edge of Tomorrow in comparable markets when adjusted for exchange rates.

The film’s journey is not over, as three major markets are still to open: Greece on May 30, Japan on May 31, and China on June 7. Despite mixed financial results, the film has been well received by critics, with an 89% approval rating. “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 91% audience score.
