The young actress Mamie Laverock, known from a Netflix series, is in mortal danger after falling from the fifth floor.
The 19-year-old actress Mamie Laverock (19) is in critical condition after falling from a five-story balcony, according to a statement from her family. The actress, who is particularly well-known through the TV series “The Coal Valley Saga” (original title: “When Calls the Heart”), which is available in Germany on Netflix, is currently dependent on life support measures to survive.
Mamie Laverock: Accidental fall in hospital
Laverock had already been in hospital for two weeks due to a “medical emergency.” She was then “escorted from a secure area of the hospital and taken to a balcony from where she fell five stories,” according to the campaign page set up by her parents Rob and Nicole Compton.
“She suffered life-threatening injuries, has undergone multiple surgeries and is currently on life support,” Laverock’s parents wrote. “We are all devastated and in shock at this extremely difficult time.”
Mother previously saved Mamie Laverock’s life
According to information published on the fundraising platform “gofundme,” Laverock’s mother traveled to Winnipeg, Canada, on May 11 to help her daughter with a “medical emergency.” “Nicole was able to get there in time to save her life,” the site says. Laverock was then transferred from a hospital in Winnipeg to a clinic in Vancouver. At the time, her parents wrote that “her recovery is unclear, but she is alive and showing signs of improvement.”
There, the young actress fell from a balcony on May 26, more than two weeks after being admitted to the hospital. Details of Laverock’s previous medical emergency are currently not available.
Mamie Laverock’s co-stars react
After the tragedy, Laverock’s co-stars posted heart-rending messages on social media. “I love this family, my heart is broken,” wrote Johannah Newmarch (52), who plays Laverock’s mother Molly Sullivan in “The Coal Valley Saga.” “A devastating time for everyone who is worried about Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to get through this.”
Laverock’s co-stars Loretta Walsh and Erin Krakow (39) also called on their followers to support the “gofundme” donation campaign. More than 17,000 Canadian dollars have been collected so far (May 28) on the donation page set up for Laverock.
The young actress appeared in the series “The Coal Valley Saga” from 2014 to 2015, playing nursing student Rosaleen Sullivan. After a long break, she briefly reprised her role for the tenth season, which aired in 2023, and appeared in a total of three episodes.
