RTL had previously confirmed that Bärens had died unexpectedly at the age of 46. He had danced alongside Meis until the sixth show of the third season in 2010, but had to drop out due to back problems. “Even though he only took part in ‘Let’s Dance’ for a short time, the news of his sudden death shocked us. Our thoughts are with his family and we send them lots of strength,” it said.
