It was an evening with two big winners in Vienna City Hall: The historical depression drama “Des Teufels Bad” by Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala and the musician portrait “Rickerl” by Adrian Goiginger triumphed at the 14th Austrian Film Awards. “Des Teufels Bad” converted eight of its eleven nominations into awards and won, among other things, in the top category of Best Film. “Rickerl” secured Goiginger the directing and screenplay trophy.

The works also won in the two acting categories, with a music duo being the winner: Anja Plaschg, a successful singer-songwriter under the stage name Soap&Skin and also awarded a statuette as a film composer for “Teufels Bad”, was chosen as best actress in a leading role for her portrayal of a depressed woman in the Middle Ages. “I was horrified to see that the story of that time is still repeating itself today,” said the artist in her acceptance speech. Her colleague Voodoo Jürgens was able to secure the men’s counterpart for the title role in “Rickerl”.
