What’s new on Netflix: Zack Snyder announced the release date of “Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cuts”

The highly anticipated Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cuts It finally has a release date, it will be August 2. The director’s sci-fi epic Zack Snyder was a success for Netflixreigning on their charts for weeks after its release despite mixed reviews from fans and critics.

Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire came out in December 2023 with a limited theatrical release followed by the sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, released in April earlier this year. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the director’s cut that is coming out now.

Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cuts will be very different from the original film

Snyder is well known for making different versions of his feature films, with the director previously hinting that the two different cuts of Rebel Moon are tonally “completely different.”

Each one lasts an hour longer. He delved into the technicalities and revealed: “It’s three hours each and there are tons of scenes that aren’t in the initial versions. In the movie, a line that was the same in PG-13 as it was in R could be a different version of the same line. Emotionally, it’s more like a parallel universe than an extended version. Things happen that don’t happen in the R-rated version in PG-13. The order of events is completely different, so it’s a really interesting exercise.”

Set in a fictional galaxy, Rebel Moon follows Kora, a mysterious warrior, who intervenes to help her take refuge on her home moon of Veldt when the imperialist Motherworld, whose army, the Empire, threatens a farming colony. She sets out to recruit warriors from across the galaxy and together they oppose the Empire. The film has unique characters and a familiar story, and it will be fascinating to see how the director’s cut unfolds. The film stars Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, Anthony Hopkins and many more.

Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cuts will be released on August 2 on Netflix.
