Shifty Shellshock became known worldwide as the frontman of the band Crazy Town. Now the singer has died at the age of 49.
Great sadness for Shifty Shellshock (1974-2024). In the 2000s, the singer made his name as the frontman of the band Crazy Town. Their hit “Butterfly” was a worldwide success and stayed at number one in the German charts for six weeks. Shellshock died unexpectedly on June 24th.
Consistent media reports cite official documents from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, the medical examiner’s office in Los Angeles. According to them, the musician was found lifeless in his house. Seth Binzer, Shellshock’s real name, was 49 years old. The cause of death is currently unknown.
Shifty Shellshock struggled with his drug addiction
In addition to his musical successes, Shifty Shellshock increasingly attracted attention with his escapades. Drug abuse and violent excesses repeatedly landed him in the headlines, and in April 2023 he was arrested for drunk driving. In US shows such as “Sober House” and “Sober-House 2”, he publicly fought against his addiction. In 2012, he was briefly in a coma – his drug use was also blamed for this.
Shifty Shellshock was born on August 23, 1974 in Los Angeles. In 1999, after a prison sentence, he founded Crazy Town together with his best friend Epic Mazur (53). In 2003, the band took a break of several years, their third and final album was released in 2015, and their last single, “Leeches,” was released in 2022. However, Shifty Shellshock was never able to repeat the success of Butterfly. He leaves behind two sons.
