The Italian actress Monica Bellucci has been awarded the “Globo d’Oro” film prize by the foreign press in Italy for her life’s work. The 59-year-old received the award in Rome. Bellucci received her first “Globo d’Oro” in 1998 as best actress for her role in the film “New Year’s Eve Unleashed”. She later went on to have an international career, including roles in “The Matrix” and as a Bond girl in “Spectre”.
The Italian was accompanied at the awards ceremony by US director Tim Burton (“Beetlejuice”, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”), with whom she has been in a relationship for some time. The award for best film went to Italian director Paola Cortellesi for “C’è ancora domani” (“Tomorrow is another day”). The Naples film “Ode to Naples” by Trudie Styler, the wife of British singer Sting, was awarded the prize for best documentary film.
The “Globo d’Oro” (Golden Globe) is awarded annually by the Association of Foreign Press in Italy, now for the 64th time. The award ceremony took place at the German Academy Villa Massimo.
