Actress Penelope Frego has stripped off for Playboy. She wants to use the photos to remove the taboo surrounding female nudity.
Actress Penelope Frego (31) graces the cover of the new issue of the men’s magazine “Playboy”. With her nude photos, the South Tyrolean, who is known for appearances in “Unter uns” and in the movie “Girl You Know It’s True”, wants to help normalize the way we deal with female nudity.
“Nudity is perceived as much more natural in men, but in women it is much more easily seen as taboo, and I want to free them from that,” explains the 31-year-old in an interview with “Playboy”. “If I have a message in my pictures, then that is exactly what it is: the destigmatization of the female body.”

Frego continues: “Of course there has been progress in recent years. For example, being able to lie topless on the beach and go into the water as a woman is something wonderful.” And that’s exactly what the actress does: On the cover of the magazine, she can be seen naked and sitting in the water on the beach with wet hair.
Being naked in front of the camera is no problem for Penelope Frego. Quite the opposite: the number of clothes you wear in a role does not always say anything about the intimacy. “I have had kissing scenes or situations that involved certain emotions that were much closer to me than nude scenes.”
Penelope Frego rejects cosmetic surgery
She also wants to use her pictures to promote naturalness. Although she “really enjoys putting on make-up”, surgery has not been an option up to now. “Because I think you become dependent on most procedures and I don’t like that feeling. Botox, for example – you have to keep getting top-ups.” Even a manicure would be a form of dependency for the actress.
Penelope Frego, who was born in Bolzano in 1992, learned acting at the Keller drama school in Cologne and first appeared in front of the camera in 2017. She has appeared in “SOKO Köln”, among others. Since October 2023, she has played the role of the judge’s daughter Bettina Körner in the RTL series “Unter uns”, and most recently she also played a supporting role in the movie “Girl You Know It’s True”.
The Italian native speaker learned accent-free German during her acting training: “Because I didn’t want to be limited to roles with an Italian accent,” she explains. Being cast in a completely German role in “Unter uns” was therefore a particularly “nice sign” for her.
