Wesley Snipes is reaping the fruits of its unexpected appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Guinness World Records announced this week that the actor earned two titles when he reprised his role as Blade in his recent cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine after making his live-action debut in his first solo film in 1998.

With his return, which comes nearly 26 years after he first portrayed the half-vampire “daywalker” (aka Eric Brooks), Snipes outdoes his Deadpool & Wolverine co-star, Hugh Jackmanfor the longest run as a Marvel live-action character. After Jackman first portrayed Wolverine (aka Logan) in X Men of 2000, he was expected to beat Professor Charles Xavier of Patrick Stewart for the title with his last performance.
With more than 19 years since his last appearance in Blade: Trinity (2004), Snipes also holds the record for the longest interval between character appearances in Marvel films. Alfred Molina previously held the record with his return as Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), 17 years after Spider-Man 2 (2004).
What Wesley Snipes said about his return to Marvel
After co-starring for the first time Blade: Trinity With Reynolds, Snipes admitted he “didn’t think it was possible” to reprise the character until Reynolds approached him about the cameo.
“I didn’t think I could do it”Snipes told Entertainment Weekly. “I didn’t think Marvel was interested. Disney was. And also because they had Mahershala [Ali]you know, chosen for the next version. So it didn’t make sense to me.”
Marvel first confirmed the Blade reboot with Ali in 2019, but the project has since faced multiple delays, including director departures. Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange of the film and the 2023 WGA strike.
Blade is scheduled for release on November 6, 2025.
