The big show fight between Stefan Raab and Regina Halmich is taking place in just under a month. She believes that he will be in top shape.
Former boxing world champion Regina Halmich (47) has already competed against Stefan Raab (57) in the ring twice. Halmich is well prepared for a new edition of the boxing matches in about a month, as she now says. Raab can therefore not hope to have an easy time with his TV and boxing comeback.
“There really won’t be any mercy this time,” Halmich announces in conversation with Mareile Höppner (47), who is representing her colleague Annika Lau (45) this time. The conversation can be seen on August 17 at 5:45 p.m. on RTL and via the streaming service RTL+.
“The old fighter Regina has been revived,” Halmich said. “I recently met my mother and she said: ‘Regina, the fire has been rekindled’,” she said. A general return to boxing is not planned, however: “I have to stop immediately after September 14th. Hang up the boxing gloves because the risk of me wanting to fight again is just too great, and that is really difficult at the moment.”
Stefan Raab’s “psychological games”
Since the TV fight planned for mid-September was confirmed, the former boxer has been training hard again. And that might be necessary, because, as she has heard, Raab will also be in top shape by then. The former ProSieben all-rounder, who retired from the business in front of the cameras almost ten years ago, is apparently working with several trainers.
“I have never seen him live and I think that is actually what he wants,” Halmich explains. “These are the mind games he is already playing. He will definitely not show himself to me before we are both in the ring.”
The third TV fight between Halmich and Raab after 2001 and 2007 is planned for September 14th in Düsseldorf. Elton (53), Raab’s long-time companion, is to moderate.
