Musician Brian May once co-founded the rock band Queen. In a video, the 77-year-old now says that he had to be treated in hospital. But the guitarist also has some good news.
Queen guitarist Brian May (77) has been treated for a mild stroke. “The good news is: I’m OK,” he said in a video message published on Instagram. He can also play the guitar. The problem occurred about a week ago, and he suddenly couldn’t control his arm. “It was a bit scary, I have to say.”
He said he had received fantastic treatment in hospital and was now doing what he was advised to do – namely, almost nothing. He was not allowed to go out, drive, fly or exert himself too much, explained May, and said dryly that he did not want any expressions of sympathy. “It clogs up my inbox and I hate that.”
The guitarist was once a co-founder of the rock band Queen (“Bohemian Rhapsody”, “We Will Rock You”). In Great Britain, the astrophysicist and animal rights activist with a doctorate is currently working to save badgers. In the video, he also talked about a documentary he made on the subject.
