Tijen Onaran has “outgrown” her marriage, she says, and is ending her eleven-year relationship with her husband Marco Duller-Onaran. She made an official statement on Instagram.
You also have to invest in love, and the Onaran couple seem to have only partially succeeded in doing that, as their relationship is now on the verge of collapse. The well-known investor from the successful show “The Lion’s Den” has to admit that the marriage project no longer suits her and she is getting rid of it, just like the deals she usually gets rid of from her investments.
The 39-year-old announced on Instagram: “Many of you know us not only as two people who run companies together and invest in start-ups. You also know us as a couple. Even if the public focus was on our collaboration and not our life together. After eleven years together, we have decided to go our separate ways privately. Did we have a good time together and many wonderful moments? Absolutely.”
But the entrepreneur is not as composed as she may seem in the first lines of her post. The separation seems to be taking its toll on the two of them. She continues to write next to a photo of them as a couple: “Are we sad? Definitely. Admitting that two people, a couple, have evolved and outgrown their own marriage is anything but easy and a process. Especially when you are still close friends. And, no: That is not the usual cliché. It is true.”
Tijen Onaran wants to continue working with her soon-to-be ex-husband
But the separation of the two businessmen is a little more complicated than usual because they are involved in many professional investments and companies together. The friendship that Tijen and Marco Onaran want to maintain could be an advantage here. They want to continue to work together in the future, despite the failed marriage that lasted eight years: “What’s next professionally? We are simply a perfect match and have not only built up an incredible amount together. We will also continue to work for our joint companies with the same standards and passion that unites us. Exciting projects await us. We will remain connected as business partners. We are looking forward to the future. To a new chapter, in deep friendship and appreciation for the other.” A big plus point for a friendship: the separation should not be about new partners.
