A breast cancer diagnosis is likely to pull the rug out from under every woman’s feet. Singer Nicole is now making the most of it.
The pop singer Nicole Seibert discovered her savoir-vivre as a result of her breast cancer. “I treat myself more because I now know: Every day can be your last,” said the winner of the 1982 Eurovision Song Contest to the “Augsburger Allgemeine” on Tuesday. Most people didn’t even realize this and simply lived on, wasting valuable time that could be put to better use.
Nicole listens to her gut feeling
Nicole, who turns 60 on Friday, said she now listens to what her gut tells her. “Personally, I like to travel and cook, be sociable and invite guests over, in short, I have a good time – the French call it ‘le savoir vivre’.”
Her illness has noticeably changed her. “I pay more attention to myself and sort out more carefully what is important and what is less important,” said Nicole. When she found out from her doctor that she was cured, she toasted the good news. “We opened a bottle of champagne at home – and my husband and I want to keep it that way so that we toast with champagne every time we say ‘everything is fine’ at the follow-up examinations.”
