Lebanon: Hospital director: No Hezbollah bunker under clinic

According to Israel’s army, Hezbollah’s safe is supposed to be located under a hospital south of Beirut. The clinic director denies the allegations.

The director of Al-Sahel Hospital south of Beirut denies allegations by the Israeli army that there is a Hezbollah militia bunker under the hospital building. “The Israeli allegations are untrue and a way to justify the attacks on Lebanon and its facilities,” wrote Fadi Alameh on Platform X.

He told Al Jadeed television: “It is a private hospital. There are underground operating rooms, there are patients. There are no tunnels, these are made-up claims.” Alameh called on the Lebanese army and the UN mission Unifil to search the building to prove whether there were “tunnels” there or not.

Israeli army: cash and gold in the bunker

According to the Israeli army, there is a bunker beneath the building in which Hezbollah is said to have hidden cash and gold worth hundreds of millions of dollars. According to Israel, the militia was previously able to command battles from the bunker. The Army provided no evidence to support these claims and instead released an animated graphic purporting to show a bunker beneath the hospital.

According to Alameh, the clinic has no ties to political parties in Lebanon. In addition to his role as hospital director, he is also a member of parliament for the Shiite Amal movement, which is allied with Hezbollah.
