Dua Lipa cancels Jakarta concert due to unsafe stage
With a heavy heart, the 29-year-old canceled an appearance in Indonesia’s capital. Defects in the stage structure leave her no choice.
The British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa (29) has canceled a concert in the Indonesian capital Jakarta due to security deficiencies on the stage.
It breaks her heart, the 29-year-old wrote on her social media channels. She was already in Indonesia for the performance planned for Saturday, but the stage was deemed unsafe.
“I was so looking forward to this evening and it pains me that we can’t perform for you all, especially after such a long time since my last performance in Jakarta,” the singer wrote.
A statement from the organizers on Instagram said that despite Dua Lipa’s willingness to perform and efforts to correct safety deficiencies in the stage structure at the Indonesia Arena, the concert could not take place. “It is not safe to perform the performance,” the statement said. Disappointed fans can therefore have the ticket price refunded.
Dua Lipa is currently on tour in Asia with her Radical Optimism tour. Several performances are also planned in Germany in May and June.
