The wife of King Charles III suffers from a respiratory infection and needs rest. Another member of the royals, however, reports back to the public stage after completing therapy.
Britain’s Queen Camilla will not attend this weekend’s commemoration for those killed in the two world wars and other conflicts.
The 77-year-old is following the advice of her doctors, as Buckingham Palace announced. The wife of King Charles III (75) recently had to cancel several appointments due to a “seasonal respiratory infection”.
She will now neither be present at the ceremony in London’s Royal Albert Hall on Saturday evening nor at the traditional wreath-laying ceremony at the central Cenotaph memorial in the government district on Sunday.
Kate’s first big appearance after completing therapy
There is no reason for concern or a deterioration in her condition, reported the British news agency PA, citing palace circles.
In addition to her recovery, Camilla is also concerned about not infecting others, the palace said in a statement. Nevertheless, she is very disappointed not to be able to be there. She hopes to be able to resume her program of public appearances next week.
Both King Charles, who is being treated for cancer, and Princess Kate, who recently announced the end of her chemotherapy, are scheduled to take part in both events. For Kate it is even the first big appearance since completing her treatment.
