Princess Kate hosts Christmas concert with Southport survivors

This year the concert will take place under the title “Together at Christmas”. . The motto of the 2024 event is “how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives”.

A recording will be broadcast on Christmas Eve in the UK. The wife of heir to the British throne, Prince William, initiated the festive tradition in 2021 when she surprised British television viewers with a piano performance of “For Those Who Can’t Be Here.”

This year, Kate wants her Christmas concert to “shine a light on individuals from across the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities,” a statement from the palace said.

Around 1,600 people who will be honored for their commitment to helping people in need will be in London’s Westminster Abbey where they will meet members of the royal family and other well-known personalities. The Westminster Abbey choir will sing Christmas carols, and music stars such as Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean, Gregory Porter and other artists are also scheduled to perform.

At last year’s Christmas concert, William and Kate were accompanied by their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as other members of the royal family. It is not yet clear which of the Royals will be there this year.

Princess Kate made her cancer diagnosis public in March. Then in September she announced that she had completed her chemotherapy and would gradually resume her public duties. At the beginning of November she was seen again at two events for “Remembrance Day” in London.
